What is AccuBak Wireless Broadband?
AccuBak Wireless Broadband was
created to bring high speed Internet access to rural users unable to get other
solutions such as DSL or Cable Internet..
How does Wireless Internet work?
An antenna will be mounted and
pointed to a tower that transmits directly to your computer at home or at work.
What kind of
equipment is need for me to get wireless?
You need a wireless network radio,
mount, and CAT5 cable. Our standard Mounting Equipment package includes a 3 Ft.
Tri-pod, a 10 Ft. Mast and up to 100 Ft. of cable. This is included in a basic
Installation. Because of location
and elevation, some installations will require alternative mounting equipment.
For that reason we have alternative mast packages.
What kind of
computer can connect to wireless?
Any computer with a network card can use our system. If you do not have a
network card in your computer we can provide you with one at the time of the
install for an additional fee.
How long does it
take to get connected?
The install time will vary depending on the number of installs already scheduled
and the weather. Installation can not take place during rain or other inclement
weather conditions. A typical install time is about 1 week.
How do I get set up?
After you call AccuBak Data
Systems to request service, an AccuBak representative will come to your location
and run a test to make sure that our wireless signal is strong and reliable in
your area. Full installation will be performed by us.
Is AccuBak Wireless Broadband reliable and secure?
"Fixed Wireless" is a reliable,
proven technology. It will not be significantly affected by weather as long as
the equipment is secure and maintained. AccuBak Wireless is as secure, if not
more secure, than regular dial-up Internet access. You may consider extra
security, such as a firewall.
Do
I need a telephone line?
No, AccuBak Wireless Broadband does
not require any telephone lines. By saving the additional costs of a telephone
line, how could someone not justify the superior wireless alternative?
Do
I have to turn my service on when I want to use it?
AccuBak Wireless Broadband broadcasts
its signal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you always leave your computer on,
your connection is always on. You will never receive a busy signal.
Can I hook up multiple computers to your service?
Yes, with the use of a router
I
use a Mac. Can I get online using AccuBak Wireless?
Yes, we can provide you with setup
instructions for a Mac
What does standard installation include?
The standard installation cost of
$99 includes: a 3 Ft. Tri-Pod, a 10 Ft. Mast, up to 100 Ft. of CAT 5 cable run
through exterior wall and up to 3 hours of installation time. Additional
installation time will be an additional $45 per hour (minimum of 1 hour). We
will inform of any additional charges as they arise.
What is the installation process like?
Once approved for service by a site survey, installation
will begin. AccuBak installs are very similar to satellite television service
installations—with the important distinction that instead of an 18” dish antenna
aimed at the sky, you have a panel antenna aimed at the nearest tower broadcast
site.
The radio is integrated into the enclosure containing the
panel antenna, which ranges in size from 13”x8” to 16”x14”. The radio is
attached to the roof or side of a structure and aimed at the appropriate tower.
A single cable (with a thickness less than a pencil’s) goes from the enclosure
down the side of the building to an agreed upon point of entry. There a small
hole is drilled and the cable is run inside. Additional interior cabling is
installed to near the customer’s computer system or network router. The cabling
is connected into a small device called a Power-over-Ethernet Injector. A short
run of cabling then connects this device into an Ethernet port on the computer
or router while a power cord connects to a nearby outlet to power the radio
mounted outside.
